Unique Challenges

Whether a one-room schoolhouse on Frenchboro, or a bustling high school in Deer Isle, schools are at the heart of island and working coastal communities. They all face – and embrace – the unique challenges of educating children in rural settings along the coast of Maine, from Downeast to Casco Bay.
