2008 Maine Island Scholarship Recipients

Amelia Campbell of North Haven received the Academic and Community Leadership Scholarship

More than $525,000 awarded

Firmly believing in the importance of education, the Island Institute supports students in academic and professional-development opportunities that contribute to the viability and vitality of life in year-round island and working-waterfront communities.

To date, the Island Institute has awarded more than $525,000 in higher-education scholarships to more than 450 students. We are proud that both the number of recipients and the amount of funds awarded have repeatedly increased. In 2008, the Island Institute scholarship programs provided $125,000 to 59 island students, offering financial assistance to all qualifying island residents and enabling recipients to pursue academic and life-enriching endeavors at colleges and universities across North America.
